I'm going to France!

As mentioned in my updates post, I AM GOING TO FRANCE.  I feel like anytime I say this is needs to be in all caps.  Hell my phone has autocorrected the words French and France to be in all caps.  I am just so happy and excited.

The story begins my freshman year.  My family hosted a 17 year old French boy, Augustin, from Annecy, France.  He stayed with us for about 7 months.  Whilst here, his family visited for about a week.  They visited New York and DC during this week but we still spent time with them.  His parents and younger brother came (his two older brothers were in school/work).  That was the first time I met Grégoire.

The next year in April, Grégoire came to stay with my family for 2 1/2.  In those two months, he became my friend/brother just as Augustin had.  Then the summer after my junior year, I tried to plan a trip to France to stay with him, but someone else was visiting.  And so I had to wait (insert me all sad and disappointed). BUT I messaged him in the beginning of December asking if I could come stay (my brothers had visited before for three weeks in the summer and they always said I could come any time).  As it turns out, I will be spending 3-4 weeks in France this upcoming summer.

He said that he has planned a vacation with his friends already in "Cap Ferret" but that I would be able to come with him.  It's this little peninsula on the west coast of France and his friend's house is right on the tip of it.  I also mentioned how I wanted to try and spend a week in Paris and he said he has an aunt who has a condo in Paris we could stay in mentioning that she probably wouldn't be there.  It's like all of the stars have aligned and everything is just working out perfectly ok I just don't know how.

So basically I am going to have the trip of a lifetime, and I couldn't be happier.  I have wanted to go to France since I was a little girl.  And to be able to see GG (Grégoire) again after two years is so exciting.  My summer will consist of graduation, senior week, working, hanging out with friends, and France- truly the summer of a lifetime.

So I will be working on my French and saving all of my money in preparation for my trip.  I'm so excited this is literally all I talk about it just consumes all of my thoughts.  Just seeing GG again and meeting all of his friends is slightly nerve racking but exciting.  You can be sure there will be several more posts as it gets closer to July.  Any suggestions of where I should go / what I should do whilst in France, let me know!  Also any tips on travelling and packing and even just your travel stories, please share!

Merci beaucoup!

Obligatory Updates

I feel as though since I've been gone for so long, I should update you on my life in general.

Well the first quarter of senior year was pure hell like truly hell.  I just think of an average day in the beginning of senior year and I don't know how I did it.  Lots of caffeine and little sleep I suppose.  But now senior year is easing up just slightly.  Much  more relaxed and much more sleep so I'm happy about that.

As far as concerts go I saw Ed Sheeran in September with Kingsfoil as his opener.  Ed was absolutely incredible as expected.  I saw him last September before he had really gotten big in America so seeing him again in a bigger venue was cool.  Ed's opener was incredibly good and so I went just yesterday to see them live.  Kingsfoil is seriously so talented.  Below I have a little collage of the first time I met them in September and then when I met them yesterday.
As far as beauty goes, well I do have some new products for sure so expect some review to come in the upcoming weeks.  They may include the Naked 3 palette, some Revlon lip products, some Urban Decay liners, and a plethora of mascaras.

In regards to fashion...well it's constantly changing of course but currently I live in leggings and sweaters and boots and hats and I love it.  I will occasionally throw on a skirt and tights with booties but I'm very much about comfort.  I also love having the ability to just throw on a coat over whatever I'm wearing and I already look put together.  But yes comfort holds utmost importance.

In my life there have also been some changes which is exciting.  I'm getting into college now so that will be a decision I will make in the near future.  I have a job now (I work at a frozen yogurt place) and I still babysit here and there.  BUT the most exciting news is...I'M GOING TO FRANCE.  If you knew me you would know that THIS IS A HUGE DEAL AND IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE MOST EXCITING THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN.  I apologize for the caps but they are completely necessary.  I shall discuss more about this in another post it's far too important to try and shorten all of the excitement.

I think that's all I really have as of right now.

I love you all.

My Happy Place

In my opinion, it's extremely important to love your room.  Now if you're like me, your parents painted and decorated your room when you first moved into your house at the age of maybe 5.  Therefore I've been in the same soft green colored room with purple and green floral comforter for the past 11 years.  I will say, props to my mom on not making my room look like a 5 year old's room.  It's not that I hated my room, it just wasn't me.  It wasn't my style.  Well for my 17th birthday this year my main gift was redoing my room.

With the freedom to do pretty much whatever I wanted, I made it my goal to make my room the coziest most inviting room in the house.  Personally, I think I succeeded.

It's not 100% complete- I still need another strand or two of lights as you might be able to notice- but it's pretty much there.  This is only the bed section of my room, because it's my favorite.  My wall color is Soft Sand by Benjamin Moore and in some lights it's a beigey, sandy color while in other lights it looks like a soft muted purple/dusty rose which I actually quite like.  My comforter is from Kohl's, designed by Lauren Conrad in a blush color- it came with one matching sham.  I then got the big cream colored ruffley pillow and the faded L'arc de Triomphe pillow from Home Goods.  The throw I got was from Marshall's and the light strands were from Michael's.  VOILA, my happy place.

I also love my room because I have just majorly cleaned it so I have a nice neat desk ready for the school year.  I also have a little side table where I do my makeup which I like and then my dresser which I keep my jewelry on top of.

Other than my bed, my favorite part of my room is probably right at the end of my bed.  You can't see it in the picture, but I have a little shelf and on top of that shelf is my turntable.  My insanely awesome friends all got me a turntable for my birthday along with a couple Mumford & Sons vinyls, as well as Bon Iver and The Beatles.  Like I said my friends are insanely awesome.  I love just laying on my bed on my computer listening to music with my lights on at night.  I think it's when I'm most at peace, when I'm comfiest.

I really do think it's important to make your bed/room somewhere where you are happy.  I like falling asleep feeling cozy and warm and happy- it's a very good feeling trust me.  So yes that's all I wanted to share.  Maybe you can gather some inspiration for creating your happy place.  Mine includes lots of soft colors, ruffles, plenty of pillows, good music, and lights.  What about you?
