I'm going to France!

As mentioned in my updates post, I AM GOING TO FRANCE.  I feel like anytime I say this is needs to be in all caps.  Hell my phone has autocorrected the words French and France to be in all caps.  I am just so happy and excited.

The story begins my freshman year.  My family hosted a 17 year old French boy, Augustin, from Annecy, France.  He stayed with us for about 7 months.  Whilst here, his family visited for about a week.  They visited New York and DC during this week but we still spent time with them.  His parents and younger brother came (his two older brothers were in school/work).  That was the first time I met Grégoire.

The next year in April, Grégoire came to stay with my family for 2 1/2.  In those two months, he became my friend/brother just as Augustin had.  Then the summer after my junior year, I tried to plan a trip to France to stay with him, but someone else was visiting.  And so I had to wait (insert me all sad and disappointed). BUT I messaged him in the beginning of December asking if I could come stay (my brothers had visited before for three weeks in the summer and they always said I could come any time).  As it turns out, I will be spending 3-4 weeks in France this upcoming summer.

He said that he has planned a vacation with his friends already in "Cap Ferret" but that I would be able to come with him.  It's this little peninsula on the west coast of France and his friend's house is right on the tip of it.  I also mentioned how I wanted to try and spend a week in Paris and he said he has an aunt who has a condo in Paris we could stay in mentioning that she probably wouldn't be there.  It's like all of the stars have aligned and everything is just working out perfectly ok I just don't know how.

So basically I am going to have the trip of a lifetime, and I couldn't be happier.  I have wanted to go to France since I was a little girl.  And to be able to see GG (Grégoire) again after two years is so exciting.  My summer will consist of graduation, senior week, working, hanging out with friends, and France- truly the summer of a lifetime.

So I will be working on my French and saving all of my money in preparation for my trip.  I'm so excited this is literally all I talk about it just consumes all of my thoughts.  Just seeing GG again and meeting all of his friends is slightly nerve racking but exciting.  You can be sure there will be several more posts as it gets closer to July.  Any suggestions of where I should go / what I should do whilst in France, let me know!  Also any tips on travelling and packing and even just your travel stories, please share!

Merci beaucoup!

Be Positive. Be Happy. & Smile.

  1. That is so amazing! I think it's great that you are going to be spending time with people you know there rather than just doing all the tourist-y stuff by yourself. Your summer will be great!! :)
